IPv6 Networking and Programming Courses

IPv6 Networking and Programming Courses

These courses are scheduled on demand.

IPv6, the successor protocol to IPv4, is now at a stage where it is ready for full scale deployment. An important driver in this regard is the planned use of IPv6 in the deployment of ip mobile services, especially IMS - the IP Multimedia Subsystem. In addition, the deployment of VoIP over IPv6 is also likely to further boost the uptake of IPv6. The large scale deployment of mobile IPv6 will also lead to the migration of many existing netowking, intranet and internet applications from IPv4 to IPv6.

The "tipping point" when the move to IPv6 will start to accelerate is very near. This year the Internet Society organised an IPv6 day. It seems to have been a success. To quote from the intentions behind this initiative "On 8 June, 2011, top websites and Internet service providers around the world, including Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai and Limelight Networks joined together with more than 1000 other participating websites in World IPv6 Day for a successful global-scale trial of the new Internet Protocol, IPv6. By providing a coordinated 24-hour "test flight", the event helped demonstrate that major websites around the world are well-positioned for the move to a global IPv6-enabled Internet, enabling its continued exponential growth."

This new set of courses and seminars is designed for those organisations planning to set up IPv6 networks, to develop IPv6 applications and to port existing IPv4 applications to IPv6, as well as for companies planning an IPv4 to IPv6 migration. FTT has been running IPv6 seminars and workshops for over 8 years, and we have predicted that when the tipping point for the IPv4 to IPv6 transition is reached there will be several years during which the demand for skilled personnel (both network administrators and programmers) will be far larger than can be met with the existing pool of talent. Those with the necessary skills will be able to command "large premiums". I believe that this tipping point is very imminent.

To meet more specific training needs, FTT can provide customised applied programming courses including covering in greater detail topics such as IPv6 security, IPv6 QoS, TCP over IPv6, and IPv6 multicasting

These courses can be presented either at your own premises or at our facilities in Carshalton. Custom training can be cost-effective for groups as small as four. Please call us to discuss your requirements.
