Linux Administration Deployment Networking and Security Courses

Linux has proved itself to be more than a match for Microsoft and is to be found running on machines of all sizes from IBM Mainframes to little RaspberryPi boards. The maturity of Linux is also evidenced by the many certification programs associated with Linux such as the Linux Professional Institute LPIC certification programs as well as certification programs from companies such as Red Hat and SuSE. FTT's Linux courses can be used to prepare for LPIC, Red Hat and SuSE certification exams, or can be used to simply "fill in gaps in knowledge" as well as developing more advanced skills tailored to particular tasks and deployments. Courses that prepare for certification exams are, typically, "crammer and revision" type courses. It is difficult to pass the more advanced certification courses without real world experience. Also, the syllabus for the various certification courses is not always at the cutting edge of developments in the Linux world. The world of Linux administration, deployment, networking, security and virtualisation can be oriented towards those who will be specialising in purely these tasks and those who need the knowledge because they are application developers. Of course the best administrators are very often also good programmers. Good programmers do not always make good administrators and troubleshooters as administration and troubleshooting skills often require an ability to think under pressure, prioritise problems and an interest in probing and monitoring system performance and quality of service.

General Purpose Linux Courses

Linux Proficiency in Administration and Troubleshooting (LPAT) Courses. These courses are structured along similar lines to the LPIC syllabus and can, indeed, be used for those planning to take the various LPIC certification exams. These courses can be taught as instructor led courses (very intensive bootcamp style training) or studied as distance learning courses.
